The underlying objectives and responsibilities of Blackball International can be summarised as follows…
- Promote and develop the game of blackball pool as an international sport.
- Organise and administer the biennial World Blackball Championships.
- Unite all national associations, who’s members play the “small table” game of eight ball, under the auspices of one organisation, namely Blackball International (BI).
- Encourage the adoption of blackball as the foremost rule set for the “small table” game.
- Promulgate and when needed update the rules of play and regulations relating to the game of blackball pool.
- Record statistical data for the World Blackball Championships and other BI sanctioned events and preserve an archive of such data.
- Ensure the provision of training, instructions and guidance for those refereeing blackball pool.
- Liaise with referee associations and maintain a register of qualified international referees for deployment in the World Championships or other BI sanctioned events.
- Foster the development of instructors and coaches for the game of blackball pool.
- Collaborate with continental and national associations to establish the eligibility of teams and players to compete in the World Blackball Championships or other BI sanctioned events.
- Co-operate and cultivate friendships with continental and national billiards organisations which along with BI fall under umbrella of the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA), the World Confederation of Billiards Sports (WCBS) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
- Adopt a sports policy which adheres to the doctrines and principles set out in the Olympic Charter.
- Ensure, as our membership of the WPA demands, that all BI run and sanctioned events are conducted strictly to the directives of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
- Encourage participation in the game of blackball pool irrespective of race, disability, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, belief or socio-economic background.
